These needles are used to create blind hems—a type of sewing that secures a folded edge while remaining virtually invisible on the outside of the garment.
Unlike standard straight needles that pierce all the way through the fabric layers, this needle is distinctly curved. When mounted in a blindstitch machine, the curved shape allows the needle to sweep sideways, skimming the surface to catch just a single thread or two of the main fabric before looping the thread around the hem edge.
